PEON runs in seasons. Every season ends and another follows, and this page is the standing notice of when. The dates above are filled in by the game itself, so the page is never out of date and stays at this address year round. What follows is what a season is, why the timing matters less than it sounds, and what a newcomer can do today.

What a season is
A season is a fresh start for everyone. When one ends the realm is wiped: heroes, levels, gold, gear, kingdoms, alliances, wars, bounties, all of it. Nobody carries a hero over. The player who held the top of the leaderboard on the last night starts the next season with the same nothing you do: a new hero, a first day with bonus turns, and twelve turns a day after that. Whatever throne was held is empty again. Nobody rules forever, and that sentence is a rule, not a slogan.
The record is what stays. The record of every season is kept, and the Legacy Hall holds it permanently. Who founded what, who held which throne, where every name stood at the end, all of it is frozen at the close and never touched again. That ledger is the only thing that survives the boundary, and it is the reason the boundary exists. A season is long enough to build something and short enough that building it means something.
The rules do not reset. Twelve turns a day, five classes, a kingdom at level 10, a raid against the whole realm every week. The full ruleset is on the How to Play page, and it reads the same in every season.
Why a season start is the best time to join, and why mid-season still works
The start is the best time for the obvious reason. Everyone is level 1 on the same morning. Nobody has a kingdom yet, nobody has an alliance, and the arena is full of heroes who cannot be targeted because nobody is above level 8. Every throne is open, and the first kingdoms founded set the shape of the realm for the rest of the season. If you have a choice, arrive on opening day.
Mid-season still works, and here is why, plainly. Everyone gets twelve turns a day and no more. A hero who joined on the first day has spent more turns than you, but cannot spend more per day than you can. There is no catching up on a treadmill nobody is allowed to speed up. You are behind in the ledger, not in the rules, and the ledger closes at the end of the season anyway.
The early climb is short by design. Your first day grants bonus turns. Heroes level 8 and below cannot be targeted in the arena. The kingdom offer arrives at level 10 on your own schedule, not the realm's. In the weekly raid every hero and kingdom can contribute once per day, so a newcomer who shows up daily is not shut out. A hero who joins with weeks left will see a raid or two, a kingdom of their own, and a name in the Legacy Hall at the close. That is most of the game.
What you can do right now
The answer depends on where the calendar stands, and the status block at the top of this page tells you where that is. Every case below is covered.
- During a live season: create a free account and a hero. Choose one of five classes: Warrior, Mage, Rogue, Warden, or Scholar. Walk into the Dark Forest and fight. Each fight costs one turn and resolves immediately. The Morning Chronicle tells you tomorrow what happened overnight.
- If the realms are full: opt in to be notified. Realms have a capacity, and when every live realm is at it, hero creation pauses. Once you are signed in, the realm tells you so and lets you ask to be told when a place opens. There is no fee to skip the wait.
- During the final week: reserve a name for the next season. Pre-registration opens for the last week of every season. You choose a name, a class, and a lineage, and the hero awakens the moment the next season opens, already yours.
- At any time: read the rules. The How to Play page has every number in the game, and none of them change between seasons.
The button at the top goes to the sign-in page in every phase. Once you are in, the realm tells you which case applies today.
How the transition works
The final week. Pre-registration opens one week before the season closes. Play continues and counts. Turns still reset at midnight, the leaderboard still moves, and the Morning Chronicle is still written. The only difference is that the door to the next season is open alongside the current one, and anyone, new or returning, can reserve a name behind it.
The close. On the last evening of the season, a Saturday, the realm closes at a fixed hour, Eastern Time. The date and the hour are in the status block above, from the same clock the game runs on. At the close the record is frozen into the Legacy Hall, checked, and the realm is torn down: every hero, every kingdom, every alliance. Nothing is decided by hand. The close runs on the clock.
Between seasons. From the close until the open, the realm is between seasons. Nothing can be done in it, and nothing needs to be. The gap is the rest of that Saturday night.
The open. At midnight ET, the Sunday after the close, the next season opens. Reserved heroes awaken in it. Everyone else creates a hero the ordinary way and finds the same realm: empty thrones, level 1 heroes, a first day with bonus turns. The clock starts counting toward the next close, whose date appears on this page the moment the server knows it.
That is the whole cycle. Nothing here is bought. Everything here is earned, and then, on schedule, it is over, and everyone starts again.
