Hero classes

The Five Classes of PEON

PEON has five hero classes: Warrior, Mage, Rogue, Warden and Scholar. You pick one when you create a hero and it cannot be changed. Each has its own stat growth, one class ability, and monster types it hits harder or softer.

Per level
Health+17
Attack+3

Warrior

Tank. Wins by still being there.

How it works

Every hit is built from Attack, 90% of Defense and 15% of current health, then raised 15%.

Iron Shield blocks a monster's hit outright: 15% chance, plus 3% per weapon tier, up to 40%. It works in the Dark Forest and the Deep only.

How to play it

Healing
Heal before a raid strike or a hard fight. Health is part of your damage, so a hurt Warrior hits softer.
Dark Forest
Long fights suit you. Bonus strikes start in round 4 and your Endurance climbs every level.
Party dungeon
You take 20% of the damage aimed at everyone else. A Rogue beside you crits 30% of the time, up from 20%.
Arena
20% more damage. No shield, so do not count on blocks.
Raid
Varek and Korvath are Constructs. Korvath takes a further 15% from Warriors.
The Deep
Monsters hit you 30% harder and Iron Shield tops out at 25%. Hazards cost you 20% less.
Kingdom
Your kingdom starts ahead in Military.

Mage

Glass cannon. Ends fights quickly, or gets ended.

How it works

Spell Crit: 12% chance, plus 3% per weapon tier, to hit for 1.75 times damage.

It works in the Dark Forest, the Deep and the raid. Parties and the arena use different rules, below.

How to play it

Healing
A hurt Mage loses little damage. Spend healing on surviving the next fight, not on hitting harder.
Party dungeon
Your best room. Everyone starts at full health, and you add 10 to 25% to the whole party's damage, most against Undead and Shadow.
Arena
1.4 times damage in round one, 1.1 after, and a shield worth 15% of your max health. Pick fights you can end early. You also halve a Warden's damage reduction.
Raid
Ossian, Embervast and Nyr are yours. Critical hits do not land on Caedmar or Quillith.
The Deep
You carry 6 potions where most carry 3, and you see each door's danger before you choose.
Kingdom
Your kingdom starts ahead in Magic.

Rogue

Fast and precise. Crits and shadow work.

How it works

Critical hits deal double damage: 12% chance plus your weapon's crit bonus, up to 50%.

Against Shadow monsters you deal 25% more, get a separate 15% chance to double the hit, and take 15% less.

Avoid

Construct monster, Adventurer tier, from the browser RPG PEONConstruct-15%

How to play it

Dark Forest
Shadow monsters are the best targets in the game for you. Constructs are the worst.
Party dungeon
Crit chance is a flat 20%, or 30% with a Warrior. Each round you also have a 10% chance (15% with a Warrior) to double everyone else's damage, except against Shadow.
Arena
20% more damage. Crit starts at 20% plus your weapon bonus with no cap, and pays 1.5 times. Attacked by another class, you have a 30% chance to act first all fight.
Raid
Nyr and Selbain are yours. Critical hits do not land on Caedmar or Quillith, so expect less those weeks.
The Deep
You carry 5 potions and pay half to get through sealed rooms.
Kingdom
Your kingdom starts ahead in Economy. Agility raises covert op success by up to 15%, and yours is the highest.
Warden class portrait from the browser RPG PEON
Per level
Health+15
Attack+3
Defense+2

Warden

Takes less, recovers more, stays out longest.

How it works

You take less from every hit: 3% plus 2% per weapon tier, up to 15%. After a Dark Forest win where you were hurt, you recover up to 5% of max health.

Every hit is built from Attack, 90% of Defense and 20% of current health, then raised 10%.

Hunt

Avoid

Undead monster, Adventurer tier, from the browser RPG PEONUndead-15%

How to play it

Dark Forest
Chain fights. The heal after each win makes you the cheapest class to keep on its feet.
Healing
Health is part of your damage, more than for any other class. Be full before a raid strike.
Party dungeon
The monster's attack is cut for the whole party by your damage reduction.
Arena
No attack bonus. A fight that reaches round 20 goes to the higher health percent, so outlast them. A Mage halves your reduction.
Raid
Morra and Quillith are Beasts. Varek and Korvath are Constructs.
The Deep
Monsters hit you 25% harder. Resting restores 35% of max health, against 25% for everyone else.
Kingdom
Your kingdom starts ahead in Denizens.
Scholar class portrait from the browser RPG PEON
Per level
Health+10
Attack+4
Defense+1

Scholar

Every kill teaches. No bad matchups.

How it works

You always deal 10% more damage. Lore Mastery adds more per monster type: 5% at 3 kills, 10% at 10, 15% at 25 and 20% at 50.

Dark Forest, party dungeon and Deep kills all count.

All six, evenly. The bonus comes from your kill count, not the type.

How to play it

Dark Forest
Spread your kills. Six types at 50 kills each beats one type at 300.
Leveling
Your weapons give 5% bonus XP per tier, against 3% for the other classes.
Party dungeon
A party with a Scholar earns 15% more XP. You are easy to invite.
Arena
Arena damage uses your Humanoid kills, so hunt Humanoids first. Opponents fight you with 15% less Defense.
Raid
Caedmar takes 30% more from Scholars.
The Deep
You read every fork right. Other classes are right three times in four.
Kingdom
Your kingdom starts ahead in Science.
